We are Young, I Believe in Love

I've mentioned a couple of times that my biggest frustration in life is that I can't sing to save my life. Which is why I stay away from videoke/karaoke bars, or only sing infront of people who won't murder me while I murder songs. But I love music, albeit my taste runs a bit mainstream.

SPOILER ALERT! My friends and I watched "Mirror, Mirror" last night, and we were surprised that it ended with a song-and-dance number. It.was.fun!!!

I also just watched Glee's cover of "We Are Young". Liking the lyrics, especially the chorus. The opening part spoke of "getting higher than the Empire State" and "scars" though.

The original by Fun.:

I think it'd be fun to sing the chorus out loud as a graduating student:

Tonight
We are young
So let's set the world on fire
We can burn brighter than the sun

Why do I have graduation on my mind these days? Maybe because it's been ten years since I graduated from college? Yikes.

Long Live

I know posting lyrics in a blog post is so 1998, but I can't get over Taylor Swift's "Long Live":

I said remember this moment, in the back of my mind
The time we stood with our shaking hands
The crowds in the stands went wild
We were the Kings and the Queens
And they read off our names
The night you danced like you knew our lives
Would never be the same
You held your head like a hero
On a history book page
It was the end of a decade
But the start of an age

Long live the walls we crashed through
All the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
One day, we will be remembered

I said remember this feeling
I passed the pictures around
Of all the years that we stood there
On the side-lines wishing for right now
We are the Kings and the Queens
You traded your baseball cap for a crown
When they gave us our trophies
And we held them up for our town
And the cynics were outraged
Screaming "this is absurd"
Cause for a moment a band of thieves
In ripped up jeans got to rule the world

Long live the walls we crashed through
All the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
Long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
I was screaming long live then look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day, we will be remembered

Hold on to spinning around
Confetti falls to the ground
May these memories break our fall

Will you take a moment, promise me this
That you'll stand by me forever
But if God forbid fate should step in
And force us into a goodbye
If you have children some day
When they point to the pictures
Please tell them my name
Tell them how the crowds went wild
Tell them how I hope they shine

Long live the walls we crashed through
I had the time of my life, with you
Long, long live the walls we crashed through
All the kingdom lights shined just for me and you
I was screaming long live all the magic we made
And bring on all the pretenders
I'm not afraid
Singing, long live all the mountains we moved
I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you
And long, long live then look on your face
And bring on all the pretenders
One day, we will be remembered

I think it'll be a perfect high school graduation song, noh? Yes, high school. If you can get the boys to agree.

When I graduated from high school in 1998, we sang "Through The Years". Gah.

Ice Cream!

Hubby and I are on a sort-of diet but in this heat, I can't help but eat ice cream.

Tried the buzzed about Magnum. It was okay. The best thing is that I got to taste this for free!!! :)

Pinipig Crunch of my childhood gets a facelift. :)

Not pictured is the tub of ice cream at home. Uh-oh.
